Remote Learning

April 3, 2020

Dear families,

I hope that this message finds you healthy and well.  In accordance with the Department of Education’s guidance on remote learning, and in particular special education, the special education staff have been working this week to begin our transition to a remote learning plan.

Beginning next week your child’s special education teacher or service provider will be contacting you to discuss your child’s special education services as we begin to move towards remote learning.  Although your child’s services will not look the same as they do during our normal school day, our special education staff are committed to assisting your student during this unusual time.

In addition, we will be offering a virtual team meeting option for those students who have Individual Education Plans (IEP) that will expire during the school closure period.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adapt to this new model.  Please feel free to contact the special education office at 617-984-8743 or your child’s principal should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Erin J. Perkins

Modeling a read aloud

We are so excited to share this video and companion visual support.  Mary Aventos, speech and language pathologist from Amelio Della Chiesa, has put together this video to model for parents how we may conduct a read aloud during a speech session.  In addition, she has created a companion visual support for families to use while they are reading.

Stay tuned for more videos from our very talented staff!
