Dear Quincy Public Schools Parents, Guardians and Staff,

We are writing today to emphasize Quincy Public Schools’ commitment to every student and staff member and all members of the Quincy community.  The increase in racially-charged incidents against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) both locally and nationally is appalling and intolerable.  As a school system, we are striving daily to ensure that all are treated with respect and dignity and to provide a safe, inclusive, and anti-racist learning environment.  Please know that Quincy Public Schools administrators, principals, and counselors are here to support students and families and we urge you to reach out for assistance for anything experienced or witnessed inside or outside the schools.

As Grades 4-8 and 11 transition back to school full time next, we encourage our families to participate in our QPS Pooled Testing initiative.  Please use the following link to enroll your Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 student in the QPS Pooled Testing initiative:  https://forms.gle/Hn4Qpg39x83Y4ccz9.  Pool testing for high school students will begin the week of April 5, 2021.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact your school nurse to communicate any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s health.  If your child is in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, or Grades 1, 4, 7, and 10, a physical exam dated within the last year must be submitted to the school nurse and it should indicate that students are up to date with all immunization requirements.  If your child is ill, please keep them home from school and call the school’s health office for support as our Health Services team is working diligently to keep our students, staff and families safe and healthy.

We are looking forward to welcoming students back to full time in-person instruction and will continue planning for increasing learning time opportunities for the Kindergarten program. An  update will be shared with School Committee at their meeting on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 (6:30 pm, broadcast on Comcast Xfinity Channel 22 or livestream on qatv.org) and plans will be communicated to families as soon as they are finalized.
