MA Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS)

M.G.L. c. 71, § 38R requires all schools to conduct criminal background checks on current and prospective employees and volunteers, including those who regularly provide school-related transportation to students, who may have direct and unmonitored contact with children.

All QPS employees and volunteers must undergo a criminal background check and be notified of approval from the QPS Human Resources office before they are allowed to begin working or volunteering with QPS students.

SAFIS/Fingerprinting

The Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS) MorphoTrust USA IdentoGO registration website is available for all districts, charter schools and private schools to schedule fingerprinting appointments for the National Background Checks (NBC). Please be advised that the NBC fee for employees holding a professional license (DESE License) is $55 and the NBC fee for all other school personnel is $35. If you schedule an appointment and miss it without rescheduling, you may be required to pay another registration fee. Please note, there may be Saturday appointments available.
