Quincy School Committee
Policy Subcommittee Meeting -Tuesday, November 6, 2018
A meeting of the Policy Subcommittee was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Coddington Building. Present were Mr. Anthony Andronico, Mr. James DeAmicis, Mr. Doug Gutro, Mrs. Kathryn Hubley, Mrs. Emily Lebo, and Mr. Paul Bregoli, Chair. Also attending were Superintendent Richard DeCristofaro, Deputy Superintendent Kevin Mulvey, Ms. Sarah Anderson, Mr. Michael Draicchio, Dr. Elizabeth Hallett, Ms. Maura Papile, Ms. Erin Perkins, Ms. Madeline Roy, Mr. Edward Smith; and Ms. Laura Owens, Clerk.
Mr. Draicchio reviewed the proposed changes to Section 5.2.2 Emergency Procedures, which provide procedures for Evacuation, Reverse Evacuation, Lockdown, and Shelter in Place. The revised wording is to make the responses for different situations more clear, including remaining in place during a lockdown even if the fire alarm sounds unless directed to do otherwise by emergency responders
Mr. Gutro requested clarification, Mr. Draicchio said this in response to potential use of the fire alarm to put students or staff into harm’s way during a lockdown or shelter in place order.
Mrs. Hubley made a motion to move the revised Emergency Procedures chart to School Committee as presented. Mr. Andronico seconded the motion and on a voice vote, the ayes have it.
The Emergency Procedures chart will appear on the November 14, 2018 School Committee meeting for discussion and on the December 12, 2018 School Committee meeting for vote.
Mrs. Hubley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:03 pm. Mr. Andronico seconded the motion and on a voice vote, the ayes have it.
