Organizational Meeting of the Quincy School Committee
Organizational Meeting
An Organizational Meeting of the Quincy School Committee was held on
January 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall. The following members were
present: Mr. Paul Bregoli, Mr. James DeAmicis, Mrs. Kathryn Hubley, Ms. Barbara
Isola, Mrs. Anne Mahoney, and Mayor Thomas P. Koch, Chairman. Also present
were Dr. Richard DeCristofaro, Secretary and Ms. Laura Owens, Clerk.

New Members Sworn In
Mayor Koch proceeded to swear in Mr. Paul Bregoli, Mr. James DeAmicis, and
Mrs. Kathryn Hubley.

Vice Chairman Elected
Mayor Koch asked for nominations for the Office of Vice Chairman of the
School Committee for 2016-2017. Mrs. Hubley nominated Mr. Paul Bregoli
Bregoli for the Office of Vice Chairman. Ms. Isola seconded the motion.
Mrs. Mahoney made a motion to close the nominations for the Office of Vice
Chairman and Ms. Isola seconded the motion. On a voice vote, the ayes have it.
On a roll call vote, Mr. Bregoli was unanimously elected School Committee Vice
Chair by a vote of 6-0.

Mr. Bregoli’s Address
Mr. Bregoli began by thanking his colleagues for the honor of their vote as
Vice-Chair. He then outlined some of School Committee’s accomplishments during
the last four years and set goals for the upcoming term, including voter registration
for high school students, ensuring parallel educational programming at both high
schools, convening an Ad Hoc Subcommittee on Athletics, establishing a
comprehensive program to address dating violence, address school district
populations and boundaries, and work with the legislature on the composition of the
state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Mr. Bregoli reminded his
colleagues that School Committee must continue to advocate for our students, staff,
and families and remain focused on what is best for Quincy Public Schools.

On a motion by Mrs. Mahoney, seconded by Mrs. Hubley, the Organizational
Meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m. The ayes have it.
