District Curriculum Accommodation Plan
The Quincy Public Schools ensures that every effort is made to meet individual students’ needs within
the regular education program. This District Curriculum Accommodation Plan is designed to assist
principals and teachers meet the needs of diverse learners in the general education program.
The plan will assist the regular classroom teacher in analyzing and accommodating diverse learning
styles of all students in the regular classroom and in providing appropriate services and support within
the general education program. This assistance will include, but not be limited to,

Direct and systematic instruction in all core subjects, with specific, targeted support in reading
and mathematics, learning English as a second language, and positive, strengths-based
reinforcements for behavior.

All new educators will participate in a formal mentoring program and collaborate with veteran
educators, as well as members of the Superintendent’s Leadership Team.

Family engagement remains a top priority at all Quincy Public Schools. Parents, guardians,
siblings, grandparents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of their student’s academic
and non-academic learning.

Our students’ progress is monitored and reported throughout the year using benchmark assessments,
student profile reports, progress reports, parent/teacher conferences, and report cards. Core and noncore
subjects are all aligned to the learning expectations outlined in the Massachusetts Curriculum
Frameworks.
The district professional development program includes early release time throughout the school year,
job embedded action research, common planning time, vertical team collaboration, grade-level
curriculum study groups, site-based coaching and consultations and graduate courses. In addition,
DESE required courses on supporting English Learners and Students with Disabilities are offered
annually, taught by staff members or members of the superintendent’s leadership Team who are
certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
