Public Hearing
Consistent with the Provisions of Chapter 71, Section 38N of the General Laws, the
Quincy School Committee will hold a public hearing on its proposed FY2013 Budget
on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 7:45 pm in the Temporary City Council Chambers on
the second floor of City Hall. All interested persons were given an opportunity to be
heard.
Mrs. Tracey Christello thanked the Mayor, the School Committee, Dr. DeCristofaro,
and the members of the Superintendent’s Leadership Team for their work on this
year’s budget. Great strides have been made to restore what was lost in previous
years, but wanted to remind the School Committee that the Media Specialist positions
for the Elementary and Middle Schools are still not restored. She underscored the
importance of the positions in enhancing literacy efforts and maintaining the
investment in books and technology. Mrs. Christello asked the School Committee,
the Superintendent, and Leadership Team to think creatively about how to restore this
program in future budgets.
As no one else wished to be heard, the Public Hearing portion of the meeting closed.
